The world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, FTX, collapsed at the hands of its founder and CEO – Sam Bankman-Fried last week (in November 2022).
Bankman-Fried’s net worth has plummeted from an estimated $26billion to approximately $0. However, many who have heard about the news on FTX collapse and if the founder could land in jail or not want to know whether he is in a relationship.
Who is Sam Bankman-Fried?
Sam was born in 1992 on the campus of Stanford University into a family of academics, and from an early age was considered a high achiever.
After studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he began his professional career as a trader at Jane Street Capital where he specialized in arbitrage trading strategies.
He reportedly worked at the company for three years before stumbling across cryptocurrency for the first time in 2017.
According to Forbes, Sam saw scope for the use of arbitrage techniques in crypto and began by focusing on trading in the Japanese market.
He then launched FTX in 2019 and grew it into one of the leading exchanges for buying and selling crypto derivatives including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other popular digital currencies.
In early 2022, investors valued FTX and its US operations at a combined $40billion.
At its peak, the trading platform had well over one million users.
Who is Sam Bankman-Fried dating right now?
At the moment, Sam Bankman-Fried is assumed to be completely single; not dating, and has not been married.
Also, there’s no claim to him being a father as none of the news outlets have reported he has children.
However, Sam Bankman-Fried is rumored to have dated a top executive at FTX’s affiliate trading company, Alameda Research. The woman is named Caroline Ellison.
Ellison is widely thought to be part of Bankman-Fried’s inner circle.
According to a CoinDesk report, which can also be found on The Sun, she was among the nine people living with the tycoon in a luxury penthouse in the Bahamas where FTX is based.
The other housemates include FTX co-founder, Gary Wang, and FTX Engineering Director, Nishad Singh.
The outlet believes Ellison and Bankman-Fried dated at one stage, citing those close to the FTX hierarchy.
However, they are no longer thought to be romantically involved.
