SZA says she’s sitting on at least 100 songs ahead of the release of her second studio album.
SZA says that she’s sitting on 100 songs as she prepares for the release of her long-awaited second studio album. The TDE singer confirmed how much-unreleased music she’s got prepared while speaking with TMZ at LAX.
In a clip published by the outlet on Monday morning, SZA remarked that the new album is coming out “any day” and that she’s got “five years’ worth of material,” prepared, estimating to have at least 100 songs at the ready.
While she hasn’t revealed a release date for the project, SZA did discuss what fans can expect during an interview with Complex.
“I don’t even know what this album is about and what it sounds like,” she told the outlet. “Which is why I had to go to the mode of what feels good to my brain and to my energy and the songs that I think are hot, I just have to go with them. I have no idea what it sounds like to anybody else. I really don’t know. It’s so bizarre. It’s weird that I can’t put my finger on it. It’s a little bit of everything. It’s a little aggressive. Some parts are incredibly soft. Some of them are ballads.”
SZA also confirmed over the weekend that she’ll be releasing a music video for “Shirt” in the near future. While performing at Austin City Limits, she explained that the piece is “turned in and about to come out.”

What does the SZA stand for?
Solána Imani Rowe known professionally as SZA is an American R&B singer who was born on November 8, 1989, in St. Louis, Missouri but raised in Maplewood, New Jersey.
Rowe formed her stage name from the Supreme Alphabet, taking influence from rapper RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. The last two letters in her name stand for Zig-Zag and Allah, while the first letter S can mean either savior or sovereign.
She began making music in the early 2010s, releasing two extended plays before signing with the hip-hop record label Top Dawg Entertainment, through which she released Z (2014), her third EP and first retail release. That same year, she co-wrote “Feeling Myself” by Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé. In 2016, she was featured in Rihanna’s song “Consideration”.
Her father was an executive producer at CNN, while her mother was an executive at AT&T. Rowe was born to a Christian mother and a Muslim father. She has an older half-sister named Tiffany Daniels and an older brother, Daniel, a rapper named Manhattan. She was raised as a Muslim.
She attended a Muslim prep school every day after her regular schooling. However, due to the September 11 attacks, Rowe was subjected to bullying in 7th grade, leading her to stop wearing her hijab.
Rowe attended Columbia High School, where she was active in sports, including gymnastics and cheerleading. After graduating from high school in 2008, Rowe later went to three separate colleges, finally settling at Delaware State University to study marine biology. She eventually dropped out in her last semester; however, she immediately started taking on random jobs in order to make money.
