Is Helen Hunt currently married and does she have any kids?

Following her 2000 divorce from Hank Azaria, Helen met producer Matthew Carnahan in 2001. The pair welcomed a daughter, Makena Lei Gordon Carnahan, in 2004 but never married. However, their partnership lasted until 2017, when Helen and Matthew split in what many tabloids have labeled a “messy” breakup.

At the time, a source revealed to In Touch Weekly that “Matthew moved out a few times over the years. Helen would always take him back, and then time would pass and she’d kick him out again.”

Helen Hunt was involved in a serious car accident in 2019.

According to People, in October 2019, Helen was in the back of an SUV when it was T-boned while attempting to drive through an intersection. The car rolled over on its side due to the impact, and Helen was briefly hospitalized following the accident. In September 2021, Helen sued the limousine company that operated her vehicle.

Court documents obtained by People cited she was seeking “compensatory damages,” citing “personal injury, wage loss, hospital and medical expenses, general damage, loss of earning capacity” and other damages — specifically “loss of earnings, emotional distress, pain and suffering, economic and non-economic damages.”
