50-year-old actress Gabrielle Union says her marriage was dysfunctional from day one and as the breadwinner in the marriage, she felt entitled to cheat.

Gabrielle Union is a successful actress and author who has won awards. On top of that, she is a married woman and has a total of four children.

Who is Gabrielle Union’s first husband and did she really cheat on him?

The 50-year-old actress said her marriage to the ex-NLF player – who she wed in 2001 but split from in 2005 – was dysfunctional from day one and she was desperate for validation from other men during the troubled relationship.

She spoke with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast about seeing other men while married to the 47-year-old sportsman.

“In our first marriage, neither one of us felt like the marriage should get in the way of our dating. A part of it was like keeping up with his activities, like, ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing? You’re going to feel this one,’ and I just felt entitled to it as well. In hindsight, yes, I absolutely needed something from them (other men) that I was not providing for myself, and neither was my marriage, but I think I provided something for them too,” she says

“Guys can be just as big as groupies – If not more – than women, so it was a trade off. We were both c**** people going through s*** and clearly not going to enough therapy,” she adds.

The ‘Bring It On’ actress added that she was paying all the bills during their marriage, which added to her feeling she was entitled to cheat.

“Like my dad before me, whoever has the most, gets to do whatever the hell they want is what I thought: It was just dysfunctional from day one. I wish I had more guilt for some of that. It was such a stupid relationship that should have never got out of the dating phase.”

They went to couples counseling and eventually came to the conclusion that they didn’t have much in common.

Gabrielle Union slams people with ‘panties in a twist’ over cheating confession.

Gabrielle Union is doubling down on her eyebrow-raising comments about feeling “entitled” to cheat on her ex-husband, Chris Howard.

“If you’re gonna get your panties in a twist about something I’ve been talking about since 2005 — in not one but two New York Times best-selling books — at least listen to the whole thing,” the “Bring It On” star told “Entertainment Tonight” on Thursday after her “Armchair Expert” podcast appearance opened the floodgates to a slew of criticism from keyboard warriors.

“Just so you know where your anger actually is,” she went on, rolling her eyes.

Following her divorce from the retired athlete, Union found love with former basketball player Dwyane Wade.

The pair tied the knot in 2014 and went on to welcome daughter Kaavia, now 4, via surrogate in 2018.

After marrying Wade, the “10 Things I Hate About You” star became the stepmother to the NBA champ’s three other children from previous relationships: Zaire, 20, Zaya, 15, and Xavier, 9.
