YouTuber MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson has promised to do a replicate of the South Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” – here is everything to expect.
Following the trend of the popular and successful season 1 of Squid Game, many creators especially on YouTube haves done a challenge with it. The likes of the co-founder of Faze Clan, Faze Rug, and others have joined the trend of the most talked-about series.
On other social media platforms, there have been massive reactions to Squid Game after its release and the latest and much-anticipated one is yet to come from YouTuber MrBeast.
MrBeast on Monday, 11 October 2021 made a promise that he will recreate the viral series “Squid Game” on both his TikTok and Twitter pages.
YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast,” Donaldson shared a video on TikTok with Squid Game playing in the background and he told his fans he would replicate “Squid Game” — the new hugely popular dystopian Korean Netflix series — in real life if his TikTok video reached 10 million likes. Since it was posted on Monday, it has received 16.8 million likes and 526.1K comments.
With 71 million YouTube subscribers, Donaldson, 23, is one of the most-followed creators on the platform. His YouTube content, which he started posting in 2012, involves a mixture of extreme stunts, challenges, and giveaways to friends, family, and strangers.
Since premiering on Netflix on September 17, “Squid Game” has become the platform’s top show in the US. The Korean language series centers around a group of economically deprived people who enter a competition in the hope of winning $38 million. However, the competition, which involves a series of challenges based on traditional Korean children’s games, has a deadly twist, making it a game of survival.
According to Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO, “Squid Game” is on track to become the video streaming service’s biggest show of all time.
In a TikTok posted Monday, audio from the series’ first challenge, Red Light, Green Light, can be heard in the background. In the show, players have to move when the “curator” (which is an animatronic doll) has their back turned, but freeze when they turn around. The objective is to reach the finish line. If the curator catches a player moving, they lose the game — or, in the case of “Squid Game,” lose their life.
The audio from the challenge itself has also gone viral on TikTok and has been used in over 1.6 million videos.
As the audio plays in the background, Donaldson can be seen standing in front of a still from “Squid Game.” He points to on-screen text, which reads, “If this TikTok gets 10M likes, I’ll recreate Squid Game in real life.” The video is captioned, “it’s in your hands tik tok.”
Several online personalities with verified accounts including Spencer X, Marcus Olin, and Devante Wilson commented on the TikTok saying that they’d be interested in competing in a real-life “Squid Game” if Donaldson were to make it happen.
Despite the philanthropic streamer hitting over 16.8 million likes milestone, which is over the 10 million he was expecting, Donaldson has not yet updated fans on his plan.
As he only just passed the “like” goal, whatever Mr. Beast has planned for his version of Squid Game remains a complete mystery, but he probably already has some idea of how he’s going to do it and will release more information on how it will look soon. Or maybe he keeps it completely secret until the time of release. After all, no one in the Squid Game universe knows that the games exist aside from the survivors and the people who run it.
Well, we at The Vibely have 10 things expected to happen in MrBeast’s recreation of Squid Game. Below are what is likely to be seen in this much-hyped challenge:
1. How to join the MrBeast Squid Game Challenge
In order to be part of MrBeast’s Squid Game challenge, you probably have to be one of the Beast gang.
The vibrant and successful philanthropic streamer is recruiting people who follow him on all his social media platforms. These include his YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
Also, one can join his Squid Game creation by making a purchase of his merchandise from his website.
2. Number of Participants
MrBeast is also using 456 people as participants in the recreation of his version of Squid Game. In the original series, the participants were 456 and since MrBeast wants to add spices to it or get exact of the original series, he is going in for the same number of participants.
3. More Influencers and creators will join the challenge
Several online personalities with verified accounts including Spencer X, Marcus Olin, and Devante Wilson commented on TikTok and Twitter saying that they’d be interested in competing in a real-life “Squid Game” if Donaldson were to make it happen. Bella Poarch showed a screenshot of her purchase of MrBeast’s merchandise, Allenownz also is interested in the challenge, Odablock who has revealed that she has bought 200 hoodies and 200 shirts from MrBeast’s website and much more influencers are likely to appear in the video.
4. Classify and Avalancher to make their first appearance since they joined MrBeast
MrBeast’s crew increased with an additional two new members; Classify and Avalanche who were vibrant creators at defunct 100 Thieves.
The announcement of their membership was made on Saturday, 25, September 2021, and flooded Twitter as fans of the two former 100T members and MrBeast were all set to await their appearance on upcoming MrBeast videos.
Somewhere around May 2021, Avalanche and Classify parted ways with 100 Thieves following the exit of Mako ‘The Mob’ four months earlier. A little while later, the group officially split up.
Their exit from the esports org wasn’t exactly a shock to fans who had seen the writing on the wall. But where they would go next left fans with a huge mystery.
Since they joined the MrBeast gang before Squid Game became a household name, they are likely to be among the Pink jumpsuit soldiers.
5. Outfits
Just as it is seen in the Squid Game series, the soldier participants wore a pink jumpsuit while the debtors wore a green tracksuit, MrBeast is likely to replicate the same outfits. However, it is either going to be his embossed brands from his merchandise which can be found at ShopMrBeast.com.
In one of his updates on his Squid Game creation on TikTok, MrBeast shared a video asking 100 of his followers to make a purchase of the limited merchandise on his website, adding that 100 random people who buy from his online shop will be selected.
Well, The Vibely does not know if he would use any of his custom merch as the outfits in his video or he would choose exact colors or possibly use similar outfits as seen in the Squid Game series.
6. Location of shoot
The creation of Squid Game in MrBeast’s version will require a huge space considering the number of participants.
Probably, a stadium or a studio is where MrBeast and his crew will make the magic happen. At the moment, information on the actual location of the shoot for MrBeast’s upcoming video is not known yet.
7. The Use of weapons
Now obviously, Mr. Beast can’t exactly reenact Squid Game as that would require him to order his crew to kill all losing challengers on sight with live firearms, which the American legal system typically frowns upon. However, he can still dress his people up in pink jumpsuits and have them shoot losers with paintballs or something to keep in line with Squid Game‘s tone. Other games in the show that personally result in death can also simply be modified.
He has yet to say exactly how he imagines his Squid Game to be. We certainly hope that he will keep the violence to a minimum… Perhaps, he will just have the participants dress in the iconic green tracksuits with numbers while he and his team are in pink jumpsuits as they compete in similar games, free from the deadly twists. Rather than be literally shot with live firearms, they could be shot with paintballs, lasers, or water to mimic the thriller series.
8. Winner’s prize
If you’re familiar with MrBeast, he often creates viral content, particularly challenges videos, featuring incredible stunts while also giving away large sums of money to people. So, the original concept of Squid Game seems very suited for him. At the end of MrBeast’s IRL Squid Game video, the winner is expected to walk home with a whopping $456,000. Also, participants who will not win are assured a prize, be it, in the form of money, merch, or burger.
9. Total Cost
Did you know MrBeast has plans to make Squid Game his most expensive video ever? Yeah, the much-anticipated IRL Squid Game video is set to cost him over $2,000,000.
MrBeast will surely get sponsorships and partnerships with brands who will easily make it a reality for the content creator to entertain his million followers.
Also, MrBeast is investing money he gets from people who purchase his merchandise and YouTube ads revenue from his other channels into his new project.
In a tweet, MrBeast disclosed the cost of his Squid Game video, “We are doing this drop because our Squid Game video is looking like it will cost over $2,000,000 (easily our most expensive video) and I need help paying for it. All the $ we make will go towards the video!”
10. Release Date of the Video
MrBeast’s version of Squid Game is expected to be out in ending of November or early December. Well, this is just a prediction from us and we based on a tweet he shared on October, 14.
In the tweet, MrBeast revealed that he is using a month to gather 456 random participants, location, tools, and everything that will be needful.
“I’m gonna go all out on this IRL Squid Game video, give me a month to gather 456 random people and recreate all the sets”, MrBeast wrote on Twitter.
From his assertion, if he is taking the whole of October to gather the participants and sets, then it’ll take him up to the ending of November to shoot and get it edited for a possible release in December.
